October 24 proved to be a heavy lifting kind of day as the steam crew put their muscles to the test reinstalling BOTH the firebox door and brakestand in the cab. Thanks to the locomotive being separated from the tender, moving the pieces up into the cab was the easy part thanks to the SBRHS' new forklift. It was once the pieces were each lowered and resting on the cab floor that the hard part began - moving each piece up into place by shear, brut force. One of the most important aspect of work like this is a job briefing among the crew. Planning out who will be where, if the equipment needs to be turned or adjusted, etc. allows for a smooth installation that not only provides an efficient move, but a safe one.
