With the success of the California Passenger Rail Summit and outing to Fullerton Railroad Days, the SBRHS is next requested by Metrolink to have 3751 participate in the unveiling ceremony for the company’s newest locomotive – the EMD, Tier 4 emissions compliant F125 passenger locomotive. Making the short trip up to Los Angeles Union Station the day prior to the event, July 17, 3751 is staged behind Metrolink display equipment including: the company’s only operable F40, SCAX 800, an F59PH, SCAX 873, a Hyundai Rotem coach and the F125. The following day, July 18, 3751 actively participates in the equipment display as SBRHS crew members show invited guests and officials first-hand what an operating example of a powerful passenger locomotive looks like.
At the conclusion of the event, the SBRHS proposes the idea of a staged photo session of 3751 and the F125 that Metrolink graciously allows. This historic line-up shows what an 88-year gap in the construction of passenger locomotives has achieved.
